  1. Educated guess but as much as I prefer Windows 8.1 I think Windows 7 is still a solid choice for gaming
  2. Either. Have you used Win8? Are you OK with the interface?
If so, get Win8. If it bugs you, as it does with some peopl, get Win7.

Not a lot of performance difference either way.
  3. the os is not free, it include with the purchase of the alienware. anyway windows 7 support will be ending soon

That's only free mainstream support. They are not ending support altogether for Windows 7 and will continue to provide patches and updates until 2020 (this will likely be extended just as with XP). Many businesses have moved to Windows 7 from XP only within the last few years and updates for XP ended only within the last year. Windows 7 support will continue to be available and if you're buying a PC through Alienware, they will provide support for you according to your purchase agreement.

Windows 8 is definitely getting better, but I think Windows 7 is still the best bet for now.
  5. Like it or not Windows 8 is the latest and it's going to last longer than 7. Just go with 8 and after instal a windows 7 look interface. There are a lot of programs that does that really nice.
  6. I recommend windows 7 is simple !
  7. Win 8.1 Update 1, then patch with update 2 when released and then pray Microsoft are kind and give us all free updates to Windows 9.
