hi,,,i wonder if the upcomming games like the division and farcry4 will run smoothly on nvidia cards or amd cards ,,then i choose amd r9 280x due to its 3g gddr5 and its competetive price /performance,,,,,,,,,i didn't buy any of them yet what is your opinion of the two cards? and does the nvidia optimized games run smoothly on amd cards????????

Which games in particular are you thinking?

Some games do run better on an AMD card or Nvidia card, but usually at most 5%-10% difference. It's based on the specific game engine and additional things like AMD mantle. As time goes on, the drivers get optimized as well. If you read the driver release notes on each update, from either company, you'll see performance gains for titles that can sometimes be 20%! So if you are talking about future games, I can't really give you a concrete answer, otherwise I would look at the reviews of the cards and their specific FPS numbers for some of the popular titles.

r9-280x...
Both cards offer similar performance with current titles. As graphics demands increase and texture packs become higher resolution etc (such as watch dogs or mod packs for other games) the Vram requirements go up. If you could find the 770 in a 4gb variant, I would recommend that, otherwise the 280x with the 3gb of GDDR5 with higher bandwidth is the way to go. That bandwidth increase over the 770 will really help increase the GPU longevity with future titles.

R9 280x is at par with GTX 770 approx. Both are very capable cards in terms of efficiency. But I would recommend Sapphire R9 280x Vapor-X Card because of its very good cooling technology. It uses Vapor Chamber approach in combination with traditional heatsink pipes which makes this card excellent at cooling hence greater overclocking potential.

So the thing to keep in mind is each of these reviews is quite old, so performance will be different with the new patches in games and new driver versions.

I'd still recommend the r9-280x since the 4gb 770 is a lot more expensive for you.
