i3 2120
4gb DDR3
1tb HDD
radeon HD 7770
so here is the problem
my windows 8 failed. whenever I try and boot it is a blue screen with horizontal white lines going through it.
the thing is, it cant be a hardware failure because I installed Ubuntu on the same HDD, and it runs fine. all games are fine. no artifacts.
whenever I try and run my recovery media, it hangs at 47% for a little, then restarts and doesn't continue the reset.
I cant do a clean install because I don't know my Windows 8 key.
I know that's stupid, we moved and I lost it. my computer came with windows 7 and it got that windows 8 upgrade for $15, so I have the windows 7 key, but I only have a windows 8 recovery drive. and if at all possible, I would like to keep windows 8.
is there anything I can do?
if there is no way for me to do anything, is there a way I can create my own windows 7 install disk (i.e. download it online) and use my current windows 7 key that is located on my computer?
