Thinking of starting my first PC build over the summer to replace my current laptop, I'm going to go for a desktop and have started selecting parts. I'll use the computer mostly for 'high end' gaming, so games like skyrim on max settings (if possible). Currently im running an i7 2675-QM with 8 gb ram, running amd radeon 6750m and intel hd graphics 3000 so the new build should be a large improvement, below is what I have so far, with prices from pcpartpicker, it is around the right price but I have a bit of wriggle room, thanks :)

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($334.99 @ NCIX US) I was also considering i7-4930K
CPU Cooler: Corsair H105 73.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($109.99 @ Amazon)
Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver 12g Thermal Paste ($16.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 WIFI-BK ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($339.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: A-Data XPG V2 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2600 Memory ($125.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 470 Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($229.69 @ Amazon)
Storage: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($97.98 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Superclocked ACX Video Card ($659.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 900D ATX Full Tower Case ($279.99 @ Micro Center)
Power Supply: Corsair 760W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($184.99 @ Amazon)
Optical Drive: Pioneer BDR-209DBK Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($54.99 @ Amazon)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit) ($94.98 @ OutletPC)
Case Fan: Delta Electronics PFB0912DHE-F00 175.0 CFM 92mm Fan ($35.49 @ Amazon)
Fan Controller: Aerocool Touch 2000 Fan Controller ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $2626.03

My heart hurts... That build is great.. e.e! You will achieve high end. GG.

A bit overkill though, but if that is your future proof build, then its fine. Super gaming CP with lots of headroom for upgrades.

Looks indeed good.
I would go for this psu,
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220g2085...
there's not a lot of difference between gold and platinum and this costs way less for a psu that's as good as the corsair.I think that with 850watt you could sli that gpu, with 750 would it imo be just not enough.
There are some other minor things that i would do different like hdd choice, but this is the big difference i would really make.
