For this entire morning, I have been doing extensive reading trying to resolve the problem I am having with my laptop.

The Problem:

When I boot up the computer, the windows boot logo motions for a few seconds, where it then cuts to a black screen with only the mouse cursor showing.

I am however, able to press the "Shift" key five times, so that the dialog box appears, though this is not useful in the very least, but I figure I would note this anyways.

I do have a USB available to be used in trying to fix this problem.

My "System Restore" feature fails to fully restore to any "Restore Point" I try.

A pre-existing error fails to allow to me use the "System File Checker (SFC)" feature, due to a "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation" error.

Please do not suggest reformatting. I have a computer that has an evident internal software/file problem. Most computer problems can be solved without the need reformat. I fix computers all the time, but this one problem has me truly stumped.

I have the "Windows 7 - Recovery Disk" files on my USB, and have tried to use the "System Restore feature," and the "Startup Repair" feature.

The result of me running the "Startup Repair" feature gives me the following result: "Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically."

Any ideas?

It sounds to me like your video driver is messed up. Boot into safe mode and then remove the video driver. Then boot back up into windows normally. This should give you the default windows driver and let you see to install the correct video card driver. If that isn't the issue, do you have a second monitor connected or Tv? This can be made the primary video device and cause you not to see on your monitor until Windows actually gets into the desktop.

So you're saying the sticky keys window will come up?
Try CTRL SHIFT DEL. If that comes up go to new task under the applications tab, and find explorer.exe.
If that doesn't work, I've got nothing.
