I7 960 LGA 1366 need a new CPu fan any suggestions?

I have I7 960 cpu with same fan as it came with
few weeks ago I noticed Cpu's temperature is on 48-52 instead of 40-45
After loading its gets on 80 and If I play more then 15 min its getting 80>85
(exchanged thermal paste, adjusted radiator) nothing helped

So I decided to buy a new CPU fan but I have no idea which one is good performance wise.
Price range 50$-100$
I want the best, coolest, performance I can get out of it>
P.S. my motherboard is G1 assassin and it has metal box behind CPU could that have problem with fan's backplate?

  1. Should be fairly easy to track down an LGA1366 cooler. Though all of the effective ones are going to have a backplate. ATX standard cases should allow for that though and the backplates usually don't stick up much farther then the motherboards pins/solder/etc.

Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212, if you can find one of the older revisions is LGA1366 compatible. Less then your budget as well. A few others:

I briefly used the stock fan on my i7-950 (actually overheated within minutes due to the default BIOS config running max voltage) I had mine overclocked and under-volted so it ran quite cool with a tuniq tower 120 extreme, even under heavy load, highly recommend that cooler if you can find one, rather old though. It didn't interfer with my memory at all, even with the included ram fan on the corsair dominator 12GB kit.

Pretty much any large tower heatsink is going to be an improvement over the stock heat sink. It is a 135W chip and what they included really can't handle that. I can't really give you specific temperatures without looking through a whole bunch of old forums and making educated guesses when comparing the available heat sinks at the time to contemporary ones available today.

You can probably make the Noctua fit by moving the fans a little higher up on the heatsink or removing one of them completely.
