Hello All...
I'm new here, first post. Have a problem getting Asus Fan Expert+ (Plus) working. I see some information on Fan Expert 2, but nothing on the "+" plus version. I'm running an Asus P9X79-E WS motherboard, and a case that has several 3-pin fans. Fan Expert+ seems to have no effect on any of them. I can run the "test", but no change in fan speed. I assume the fan control functionality of the application is not working.

I have seem some information that suggests a 3-pin fan can not be controlled and so that's the issue in my system. However I have also seen other information that suggests a 3-pin fan CAN be controlled. Either the can-not group is correct... or I'm doing something wrong.

While I'm not in love with the Asus Fan Expert+ software, I would like to get the fans controlled. I have seen some posts suggesting the best way to control the fans is to use the setting in the BIOS, however when I checked in the BIOS, the only options seemed to be low-speed, or high-speed. I would like the flexibility of more fan speed only when needed due to any heat build up. It would be inconvenient at best to have to go into the BIOS whenever I think the temperature is high.

Does anyone know if Fan Expert+ is an upgrade from Fan Expert 2? When I went to the Asus site and put in my board model number, the only thing I could download was Fan Expert+. I'm not sure where Fan Expert 2 might be available as a stand along package, or, if it will play nice with my board and its BIOS.

Does anyone have any suggestions, resolutions, or has Fan Expert+ working in their situation? Any suggestions or thoughts would be welcomed.

Thank you !

Yes, there is an option to turn off the fans... but I am not looking to simply turn them off, I could unplug them just as easy. Are you suggesting that if I turn them off in the bios that the Fan Expert+ will then work?
