So since i don't really know how to oc really i saw my mobo had a feature called OC genie?. My mobo is the MSI z87-g45. Is this OC genie safe and worth it?, also will it break warranty? :). By the way, my cpu is the intel core i7 4770k cooled by noctua nh-d15 :)

Ty in advance - Nick

Oc Genie is an option when you don't want to bother with blue screen, freeze, tweak and reboot. The BIOS will set automatically to a ''safe'' clock speed and sufficient voltage. It doesn't mean it will be 100% safe, though. Some identical processors are better than others, this means you still need to stress test your system before considering it 100% safe. You have pretty nice hardware so I don't think you'll have any problem with automatic overclocking, but you won't get near OPTIMAL settings. The point of overclocking is to upgrade core stock speed with the less power possible. That optimal setting won't be possible with OC genie.

I've never overclocked using the manufacturer's OC tools, mainly because they tend to run the CPUs much hotter. I think you can get the same or better results by tweaking the MOBO/CPU directly in the BIOS.

If you want to OC, it's lots of fun, but read a few how-to articles and start slowly.

You'll want to add a few utilities to your toolbox in order to monitor what the CPU is doing. CPU-Z and HWMonitor at cpuid.com are both good, free tools to show you internal temps, voltage, etc.

Is OC Genie safe? Most likely yes. Can you get a faster clock using it? Again, yes. Can you get a "better" OC manually? Again, yes.

My 2 cent only. I'll gladly defer to others who may have more experience than I.

Hope this helps.

I'm no MSI or Intel sales representative, but I'm pretty sure it won't break your warranty since it's a feature implemented in your motherboard's UEFI. And you have a K-series CPU (with unlocked core multiplier and meant to be overclocked)

oc genie is very good and its running your system both gpu and cpu in safe mode oc'ed. don't tweak on anything it is suppose to run like that
