My PC is shutting off on its own. its not heat related as i get 40 degrees when playing games. underclocking hasnt helped either.

im using a GTX 460 Stock clock, a core 2 quad q6600 (also using stock clocks) and my PSU is corsair GS700. any help would be appreciated.

More about : shuts isnt heat related

What version of Windows are you running? how many devices do you have installed (printers, usb devices, etc) Have you tried safe mode?

Reseat / take out and replace everything but don't bother with the CPU and the CPU heatsink.

Do you have spare components that you can test? Sometimes parts just die slowly.

I have triple 32 inch sony smart tv, a Thrustmaster t500rs racing wheel, a Thrustmaster TH8R shifter, and a usb wireless device for my logitech keyboard and mouse. All connected with usb except the TV's obviously. What exactly do you mean by safe mode? I have Windows 7 Home Premium and i have this issue too with the pc. It keeps turning off not heat related. Sometimes it will turn off just after a minute of login in other times i would keep the pc running for 2 days and it wouldn't turn off even when running all kinds of applications and playing cpu taxing race sims. Any advice much appreciated....Also how do you check GPU temp. Tnx

I also seem to have more of this issue (i could be wrong) when i installed my 2nd and 3rd latest driver from nvidia. I did do a clean install after the 3rd but not sure if i did for the 2nd. Never had this problem with the initial graphics driver installation after doing all the necessary driver updates for my motherboard after i finished my first custom build but then again i could be wrong.....

Is the culprit commonly the PSU with this issue? Since its not heat related then it is power......Hope its not my motherboard because it would be a pain in the ass to have to remove everything to get to it. Then going through all that thermal paste over again and again putting everything together. Just a time consuming chore something i don't have though i wish i really did!!
