I Currently have 4gb RAM and would like to upgrade to 8gb, 4gb is one slot and the other is empty. The problem is, when i open the windows 8.1 task manager it says its running at 800mhz.....

Which confuses me, I Cant find any 800mhz DDR3 Anywhere. Is this just a divider? Like, 1600mhz is shared? Thats what ive seen on google. My laptop model is: HP-g012dx if it helps any. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

How old is your pc? 800Mhz was used back in the day (those were dark days)
And you should be able to upgrade your ram, might be hard to find one with a frequency of 800Mhz though

If it is new it will most likely support up to 1600. Could you tell me the name of the laptop.
