i picked up 4790k and asus maximus vii gene from microcenter over the weekend. after setting it up and get it to run at close to 4.5Ghz turbo, my idle temperature is around 43c and running prime95 small FFTs instantly kick the temp to 100+c. aida64 do a bit better at 85c~94c. after doing some research online i took the chip back and got it exchanged and picked up a brand new arctic silver 5 ( my old one is a bit dry). after setting it up i was able to bring down the idle temp to around 39c. but load is still well over 100+c when running prime95. i'm using hyper212evo with push and pull also the voltage is set to below 1.2v. one thing i did notice is that both chips are from the same batch. are those chips suppose to go that high? Am I doing something wrong? should i go back and try to find one that's form a different batch? i only got about 5 days to return it...

I have never owned a Hyper 212 Evo before so I cannot comment on it's performance.

Remember that AVX instructions and Haswell do not play well togther. So make sure you're not using Adaptive mode when you're running P95 or it will add an extra 0.1V to your Vcore without you knowing.
