I just bought a Radeon R9 270X card and a Corsair 650 w powersupply. My comp is a HP Pavilion HPE with I Core 5 processor and 3.8 mghz and 8 ram.
First I tested the power supply, all good. Then I put in the card and it booted fine, the fans turn, but he monitor goes right to "power saving mode".
I googled this and tried uninsalling the old nvidia drivers, disabling the onboard graphics in the bios, resetting the cmos but nothing changes the result.
Please help!

are you sure you're using the right type of DVI cable? DVI comes in many diffeent flavors and pin configurations... that card comes with a DVI-D connection. If you aren't using a DVI-D cable or adapter it won't send any signal (i made this mistake once upon a time)

Now that I sit back and study this even though the fans turn on the wireless mouse receiver doesnt light up. I am thinking that the computer is not actually booting after all. It does boot with the old card. What could this be? A power issue? The new PSU is 650 watts, should be enough.

I am having the exact same issue but with my GTX Ti 750, are you running 2 or more monitors? If so, unplug one of them and have your PC start with just the one, it's a temp solution until I can pinpoint exactly why mine does it too.

No just 1 monitor. For whatever reason I don't think my computer is even booting, even though the lights come on and the fans start.

try a clr_cmos

if that doesn't work, try the card in someone else's pc. we need to make sure it works. if it works in someone else's machine then the problem is likely your bios or psu (could be a bad video cable too).
