Do you have a 64 bit OS? A windows 32 bit OS limits you to less than 4 gb's... that might be why.

If not (you have a 64 bit OS), do you have just one module (1x8) or two (2x4) installed? If that's the case try switching the memory, making sure the modules are well plugged into your motherboard and that you hear a clicking sound when you place them.

Yep I have 64 bit, and I've tried reseating my RAM. They are in the 1st and 3rd slots.

+1 - also ensure you have the latest BIOS and the sticks are set up correctly (proper slots) and to the specs (timings/voltages)

How do i know what timings and voltages to set them to? I never configured that and I'm using a new motherboard.

Is this all in the BIOS? Because I have the EUFI BIOS and I'm not so good at navigating it

I have never changed frequencies or voltages for RAM. I had this similar issue one time where only one memory stick was being recognized. What I ended up doing was switching them I first tried different combinations 1st and 3rd, then 2nd and 4th, trial and error. And it worked for me, lol.

May I suggest that you try 1st and 4th, and/or 1st and 2nd?

Edit: Now that I kind of remember, one stick was not in properly, so you might want to look closely and inspect. Make sure the sticks are all the way in.

They're all the way in. Any other suggestions? D:
