Three of my friends and I like to play Minecraft online together. One of my friends is a subscriber to the Minecraft Realms service, and we all play on his server. While we play, we all like to Skype (just audio, no video).

All that being said, I just wanted to know how much data (estimation or just a variable range) I use in an hour of online play and Skyping because my data limit is not very large.

I have tried to estimate my data usage, but the amount of data used only refreshes everyday, and other people in my household also use the internet, so my conclusions would be skewed.

Please help! I want to play with my friends but I don't know if I can!

Thanks

I couldn't give an exact value, but in my experience combined they would be ~200kbps. That equates to 90 MB/hr (megabytes per hour). The best way to find out for sure is to run an internet meter of some sort that keeps track of how much you download. For instance, if you download 40 kilobytes per second, multiply that by 3.6 to get megabytes per hour.

Skype is not that bandwidth efficient. I would recommend using a different comms program, like Teamspeak or Razer Comms.
