Hello community!

I have my main screen an Asus VG248QE 24" 144Hz refresh connected with an DVI-D dual link and my second monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster T220 22" 60Hz refresh rate connected with a DVI-D single link.

This is my first setup with dual monitors and my Samsung is black screen.

The only way I can get both screen to be on is if I use a HDMI cable to connect my Asus monitor to my GPU and the DVI-D single link to my Samsung. How ever when I do this, my Asus does not use all the screen space and I can only have it at 60hz refresh rate since it is an HDMI.

Is there something wrong I'm doing? I want to use my Asus to its full potential while still being able to use my Samsung as a secondary monitor.

My graphic card is an Asus r9 280x and my cpu is i5-4690k.

Thank you for your help!

Just tries and when I turn the computer on I get the Asus welcome screen and the windows loading screen and then it goes black.

When I right click on desktop and click screen resolutions it says my syncmaster is disconnected but when I try to put "Extend desktop to this display" and then click apply I get " the display change can not be saved"

I'm running windows 8.1 pro 64 bit by the way.

Under monitor in device manager it shows "Generic PnP Monitor" and under "SyncMaster t220".

Should I try to connect the Samsung to the integrated graphics Intel® HD Graphics 4600?

Also, as soon I disconnect the dvi-d from my asus monitor and use hdmi instead, both screen work. The only thing is that the asus screen has 1 inch of black screen across all border so my 24" looks like a 22" monitor...
