Hey everyone,
I have an Asus x501a laptop that came preinstalled with Windows 8. I decided I didn't like it, and ended up buying a SSD and more RAM for the laptop, then installing Ubuntu instead.

Now I've decided I don't like Ubuntu either, and want to install Windows 7 instead (I'm a student, so I have a free copy of Win 7 Pro available).

My method for doing so was making a bootable USB (with a Win 7 image) then restarting and selecting said USB from the boot options. However, this is where the problems lies. Since installing Ubuntu, my only two options are exactly the same (both Ubuntu), and the USB doesn't even show up.

I've had a quick google, and tried several suggestions, but so far haven't had a win in ridding myself of Ubuntu. Just to clarify, I don't want a dual boot either, I want Ubuntu completely gone.

Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this issue?

UPDATE: I'm going to make a live-usb of LinuxSecureRemix, and try removing Ubuntu completely with the OS-Uninstaller. Hopefully I have a win with that.

UPDATE 2: Well, I created a live-usb with LinuxSecureRemix on it. It boots into the USB ok, but when I try to "try it out" without installing it just goes to a blank screen. I also tried creating a boot-repair-cd, but that has the exact same issue as the LinuxSecureRemix live-usb.

UPDATE 3: Going to try boot into a Hiren's Boot CD and see if I can clear it from there.

FIXED: I took the harddrive out and completely cleared it with diskpart on my windows machine. That wasn't the solution however. It seems that setting "Launch CSM" to enabled in the BIOS allows me to see my Windows 7 USB. After re-enabling "Launch CSM" I can see my windows install USB again and all is well.
