I pieced together my PC, what do i do now?

I put together my PC and everything is running pretty smoothly. It loads up to the motherboard screen on my monitor. Do I have to do anything before I install the operating system, or can I go ahead and install it?

In BIOS set the dvd drive as the first boot device

You may also want to head through BIOS with the manual in hand making some set up choices . If you dont know what it does then leave it on the default setting which is usually AUTO


Open the dvd drive , put the disk in , restart using the power button

I installed it and went to do Windows updates, but after it installs them and restarts, it loads the Windows logo then goes to a black screen with a mouse. Anyone know anything about this?
