How good is the stock cooler on the 4790k? It's speed is 4ghz then turbos to 4.4. Is the stock cooler decent enough? PLus airflow for my case is the Nzxt Phantom 410 with 2 140mm exhaust fans at top, 2 front intake 120mm fans, 1 side 140mm intake fan, 1 bottom 120mm intake fan and one back 120mm exhaust fan.
My gpu may also be the R9 290 Sapphire Vapor X. So is the stock cooler decent with all that heat?

Solution
it's adequate in the sense that your chip shouldn't crash or throttle too much under "normal" operating conditions

the i7 4790K can be a bit hot as it has a very high stock and turbo clocks

a guy had a post this week, had same cpu and a stock cooler... was having temps over 80 C ... so yeah, its pretty bad... this is high end i7 cpu, get a cooler for it... I dont know through what intel is thinking...

the cooler master one is decent enough

I personally use the CM ones, MX-2, MX-4 or NT-H1

this chart is the valid one though since it is for CPU (other link is GPU)
and the CNSP10X and 212 EVO are high pressure

The Hyper 212 Evo is ok...Even then I would not overclock with mine on, But it is better than the Intel Stock heatsink/fan There are cheaper options that offer similar performance now...Like the ARCTIC Freezer i11, I think you can put a different fan on that one..

i have no idea, I never used though I read reviews and user reviews, seems to be a goo heatsink, the fan looks not so great though. I like the newegg user reviews as a helpful guide. On things as simple as a Heatsink ,75% 5 eggs or 5/5 is acceptable. For Motherboards anything above 50% so take any review with a grain of salt as no two PCs are the same. I bought the Hyper 212 Evo at a PC shop for a bit more than newegg prices, without shipping though so about the same overall. for $40 it is not that great. this thing is only $25 CDN. IF your going to get a cheap one then get a cheap one, But if your want quality then I would suggest a Noctua one, I like the noctua nh-u14s, $59-$74 that is probably one of the best prices for a great cooler. This is a good link for the NOctua..also a good point of reference

dont worry about paste, pick one of the top 5-10 in the list... unless you are going all in and buying extreme cooling solution, it wont matter much... if you are buying a cheap solution like 212 evo, then the 10$ of money you are spending on a paste, can be also spended on a better cooler, which might cool better with included paste...
