So I have an odd issue. I just switched cases for my gaming rig. Just installed everything into a thermaltake level 10 gt snow. Upon installation (experienced builder), the PC refuses to boot beyond bios. If I am in bios and select a boot option... It will bring up a black screen with a little dash blinking.. And then go right back to bios. This happens when I attempt to boot from CDROM or my ssd. I don't understand this at all. The only new hardware that I installed is an r9-290. I also switched back to my old GTX 670.... No change. I reset the CMOS countless times. I've checked my wiring... Rebuilt it 3 times... I just don't understand. Anything else I should check? Sorry I am very drunk right now...

Okay so I just realized that I didn't install the standoffs. I lost... Almost all of them. I tried it using just three for the top half of the mounts and the same thing still occurs. The bottom mounts were not touching any metal to short out.

Sorry guys.

ASUS z87-a
Sapphire r9-290
Intel i5-4670k @4.0ghz
16GB Ripjaws (2x8) 1800mhz
Corsair h60 CPU cooler
Thermaltake level 10 GT snow edition case

This is off the top of my head, without specific model numbers, etc.

Would not having all of the standoffs caused this issue?

Just realized that they were pre installed... Last time I do that drunk. Anyhow, still having the same issue with all of the standoffs installed. Open to bios... Select boot option (odd, SSD) and then it takes me RIGHT back to bios. Sigh..

The only thing I changed from case to case is - I removed my hdd, as I only use the ssd. Though I am reading that if it was plugged in while I installed windows and it's not gone... It don't boot any device?

Go through Tom's checklist carefully - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems.

If that doesn't help, you'll need to swap out bits. You might have damaged the mobo, so I'd start with that. But do the checks first.

So - you're saying that there has never been a motherboard problem ? Even when it has been mounted with only 3 standoffs instead of the required 10 or so?

And you've been through that checklist carefully? And your pc still doesn't post?

So what other component do you want to swap out? Because that's all that's left to you now.

Try new ram. But you would've tested that with Memtest if you went through the checklist.

Try a new power supply - seeing there isn't one on your build list.

My pc does post. I get into bios and can use it with no
Issues. The problem is that I cannot boot past bios. I just get a screen with that flashing cursor.. And then it brings me back to bios. I tried new ram. I tried my old PSU. Yes, I have yet to see a solution with the motherboard being replaced. I just spent $700 on new parts and my
Board isn't under warranty, so that is an absolute LAST choice. Also, it is mounted 100% correctly with all of the necessary standoffs. I did see one solution where the guy had to tap his bios chip.. Literally tap it.. And it fixed the entire issue.

Try a new hard drive then

In reply to the PSU, I've used corsair for years. I wouldn't chose anything but. I'm not shooting down the suggestion, but like I said.. I tried my old diablo tek PSU as well.
