Good surface for external start up

So I've got some new parts (cpu mobo ram etc) and before I install them inside the case I would like to do an external start up and I was wondering what sort of surface would be good for the mother board to go on.

I don't want to damage the components with static or anything

Normally MB's come inside an antistatic(non-conducting) bag. Take the MB out of this bag, and put the bag on a table and put the MB on top of the bag. Bui9ld it with the bag between the table and the MB.
