I have my pc which uses a dedicated graphics card in one house and my monitor in another house. The only way I can use my pc in the former house is if I can get my hands on a VGA-DVI adapter. My card only has DVI-D and DVI-I; does it make a difference or can I use a regular DVI-VGA connection. What is the difference between DVI and the other two?

Solution
DVI-I is Digital + Analog Signal carrier whereas DVI-D is only digital signal carrier. Probably your monitor would have VGA connector. So better use DVI-I to VGA converter. Anyhow DVI-VGA converter would work as well.
