Intel Devil's Canyon on Z87 motherboards

Hello

This will be my first build.

I'm going to buy i7-4790K and ASUS Maximus VI Impact. I have been told that that this certain chip set can work with a BIOS update, can someone please walk through me on how to update the BIOS.

You obviously have a working system other than the new build, so with a USB thumb drive you should be all set.
I just did the same thing with a Z87 gryphon.

You are going to be using the USB bios flashback feature. It basically takes a bios file loaded to a USB drive and applies the file to the motherboard, even without the CPU installed.

Follow the specific instructions on the Asus bios update support page, as each bios revision differs and some need renaming of files, but most do not on the Z87 platforms.

You will have a different procedure depending on the bios revision that your motherboard ships with.
