Hello,

I have a XFX Amd Radeon HD 6870 graphics card with 2 DVI outputs. I have two monitors and have been using a DVI/VGA adapter to run one of them. I recently got a newer monitor with a DVI input so I wanted to just use the DVI port. However, now the monitor does not get any input when using the DVI. It only works if I use the same settup as before, a VGA cable with a DVI adapter piece on the end.

Windows shows that it detects two monitors with the DVI plugged in, just the monitor does not display anything. Is it possible to change a setting to output DVI?

Thanks!

He's right. My old 5570 didn't recognize the new monitor until I had gone into the settings and clicked detect.

If nothing works, go into the AMD control panel and look for monitor configuration. That should let you detect it.
Have you tried the Identify button in the Windows screen settings box? If the monitor is attached but not configured to be part of windows it should show a white number 2.

Another silly possibility is that the new monitor is set to VGA input and you have to use the menu to change to DVI input. Or did you try that already?
