So I'm done w/ my old gateway gaming computer and looking forward to build a new one. Going for:

PSU: evga 1000w 80 p2
Casing: Corsair Air 540
Cpu Coolant: Corsair H100i
Gpu: gtx 780 ti asus/evga not sure yet
Ram: vegeance 8gb 1600
HD: 1tb seagate/ ssd samsung 120gb

Not sure about the MB and CPU. Definitely hasswell refresh!
i5-4690k + Asus VII Hero mobo ($199 + $189.99) or i7-4790k + ASUS Z97-AR mobo (279.99+109.99). Getting my cpu and motherboard in Microcenter, bundle deal $40 off on any mother board w/ a purchase of a cpu. And I like Asus mobo because of the auto oc.

Solution
Asus and Gigabyte both make very good quality motherboards. Some of ASRock are good too. Depends on your budget. You can't go wrong with Asus and Gigabyte though.

The Asus high-end mobos definitely provides good tools for managing OC with OC panel that lets you adjust it on the fly. Definitely good. But not sure it's worth the premium unless you're looking for best performance. But if you're only using the auto-OC feature, then it doesn't sound like you will be tweaking OC yourself so it's less useful to you.
