Install Windows from HP Image on HDD to new SSD

Solution
I did say probably. I have never tried it but I did find this with a search. It appears the "biggest concern" is alignment of the partition, but some say it is not that big of a deal and you are going to be installing your OS onto a newly formatted partition during the install so........

What I found searching:
"I've restored images to many SSDs. Even images created from platter drives to move the OS to the SSD. I've even used DOS Ghost to create a backup and then restored it immediately just to re-align the partition to 4k. The version I use is Ghost for DOS v11. It *always* deletes the partition before re-creating a new one and restoring the data. I've had no slowdown issues on any SSDs using this method, and I never wipe them...

Probably the only way to do it is to ghost the dying drive over to the SSD. In theory the SSD drive will then be exactly like the old one and should work.

I say probably simply because I have never tried that on a machine whether it be standard SATA drives or SSD but I dont see the machine seeing a difference and caring.

Windows based Ghost may operate completely differently (and probably does).

SSDs I've restored images to are OCZ Solid 3, ADATA S599, and Sandisk P4."
