Hi. I'd like to know if backlit/illuminated keyboards eventually stop lighting up. I also want to know if the technology that are used in illuminated keyboards are different to backlit keyboards as I'm not sure if they are the same thing or they have been marketed differently. Thanks

Illuminated could mean side lit or back lit. Back lit is an illuminated keyboard that tells you the origin of the illumination. Easy as that. Heck, I suppose technically illuminated could mean there's a book reader shining a light down on it from above the key caps, but I've never seen that one.

Yes, as long as you get an LED illuminated/backlit keyboard, it will last a long time. Mechanics of the keys will probably fail before the lighting in many cases. I can't live without my backlit keyboard now.

Thanks everyone for your answers. I should've worded my question differently because I just wanted to know if they backlit function of the keys last a long time. Thanks again.
