I just got a new hdd for my old Toshiba satellite a350d laptop. I got a. New sata Seagate 500gb ultra thing hdd with 32mb and 7200rpm. Installed windows 8.1 pro 64 bits and somehow it gets stuck on the loading screen with windows logo when I turn it on for the first time. I shut it off and on again and it loads through no problem. Went to device manager and I have no driver alert or anything.

The only new different thing is that there's a red light coming from the headphone jack on the front and I read online that this happens when some spdfi I think is called, high def audio is switched on. Which I have no clue about and I have no sound problems at all with the audio on the new 8. I had windows 7 on the old messed up hdd I replaced...

Any clues why would it get stuck on the loading screen?

Toshiba satellite q350d
Amd x2 64 Athlon
3gb ram
500 gb Seagate crucial ultra thin new hdd.
New windows 8.1 pro 64 bits.

Is it constantly getting stuck or was it just that once? If it was just once, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Make sure all your drivers are up to date from the manufacturers website.

You could also do sfc /scannow in cmd, let it finish, and chkdsk /r and reboot.

K this is the weirdest thing. I came from work. Turned it on and got stuck. Shut it off (no reset in laptop, right.) for like 5 seconds. Turned it on loaded through. Shut it off. Took a shower and came back. Turned it on. Same thing. Still stuck. Shut it off for 5 seconds, loaded no problem.

I checked and updated all the drivers but the latest ones are for windows 7 cuz this laptop is pretty old. Also when i updated the Realtek driver, the red light went off and the sound seems to come out louder.

Im gona try the sfc scan and repair windows. Seems more like a windows thing... but, could it be related to the battery somehow? The battery is really old and just lasts like 5 mins. Could it be windows 8 having issues with the crappy battery while setting power stuff... Idk just throwing it out there.
