Hi, I just built a pc, and I can't get it to stay running. It runs for about a half hour, then powers down with no warning. CPU and mobo temps are fine, I haven't seen either go over 38c. My guess is maybe a bad psu but I figured I'd ask here. I've been running Ubuntu 13.04 from a live DVD but it was doing the same thing with ElementaryOS Luna. I haven't had a chance to install Windows to the hard drive yet, as I'm using a friend's copy. I'm going to try installing ubuntu to my hard drive and booting from there to see if that will fix it. I have checked the power connectors for my motherboard, cpu, and graphics card multiple times at both ends, along with all the other connections. The only other thing I can think of is that maybe I caused a short with my fans, as I wasn't 100% sure how my case's onboard fan controller needed to be connected (there were no instructions past "it can be done" and I can't find it on the internet anywhere). Any help is greatly appreciated.

My rig:
AMD FX-8350
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Sapphire Tri-X R9 290X OC Edition
2x4gb Kingston HyperX FURY 1600MHz RAM
Corsair RM1000 1000w psu
Asus DRW-24B1ST DVD drive
Seagate 80gb hard drive
Aerocool GT-S Black Edition full tower case

I'm not overclocking anything.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the lights on my motherboard stay on, but I can't turn the system back on without turning off my power supply and turning it back on.

Alright thanks. I replaced the graphics card power cables and got the fan controller out of the loop, now I'm running it to see what happens. If it doesn't work I have a friend with a 750w psu that I'll ask if I can use to test it.
