Should i get the GTX 770 or R9 290?

Solution
Go for the r9 290, better performance and doble the vram, 4Gb vs 2Gb
chech if it has an aftermark cooler, if not try finding one thas has since the stock one is quite noisy

Yes and no. Yes, running the card hotter than what it is rated for, will shorten it's lifespan.

However, the 290 is rated for a higher temperature than most cards.

What model of the 290 are you looking at? If it is a non-reference design, than hands down, get the 290.
