I just bought a XFX Double D R9-280X-TDFD video card to replace my evga 560ti and I'm running into a problem. For example, I'll be playing Far Cry 3 on ultra settings and within 2 minutes of playing my computer will instantly shutoff and reboot. When running Heaven Benchmark my computer will shutoff and reboot a few minutes into it, but it varies. In CS:GO I would get massive stuttering, but in Far Cry 3 the graphics were fine until reboot. My temps haven't gone beyond 73C. My computer has shutoff and reboot at 62C to 73C. XFX support is very very slow, so I figured I'd post here to see if someone had any insight. Thank you. Here are my specs:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD3P LGA 1155 Intel Z68
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge Quad-Core 3.3GHz
CPU Liquid Cooler: Antec KUHLER H2O 920 Liquid Cooling System

HDD: Seagate Barracuda Green ST2000DL003 2TB 5900 RPM
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 ST1000DM005/HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM
Sound Card: ASUS Xonar DGX 5.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Express x1

I just ran Heaven Benchmark and my computer rebooted after about 8 minutes. I took the side of the case off and put a big fan next to it to blow a ton of air into the case. I got a CPU temperature of 45C and GPU temperature of 65C right before reboot using HWmonitor.

I lowered the settings a little in Heaven Benchmark and my computer rebooted within 5 seconds at CPU = 46C and GPU = 55C. I did the same test again and my computer rebooted again within 5 seconds at close to the same temps.

sounds like a PSU issue. But that is basically a quality PSU, still could be it. I would suggest trying to use the card in another computer, friend's? If it gives you the same problems with another computer then it is probably a faulty card.

I don't have another computer or a friend's computer to test this card. I guess I'll just wait for a response and RMA the card. Thanks for trying to help :)

I just received the video card back from xfx and they said there was no problem with the card. I bought a new power supply (EVGA Supernova G2 850W) before they shipped the card back to me. After installing the video card I can't even load a graphical frame for any game. All games either crash on startup or crash when I'm at the menu when I try to start the game. Of course, my 560ti still works fine. This xfx r9 280x is actually performing worse since I got the card back. I have no idea what to do.

I was able to borrow my father's computer and luckily he had the right components for me to just slip this card in and test it. I ran into the exact same problem that I am having on my computer. I don't understand how XFX can say this card is fine, but I tried this card on 2 different computers and it's giving me the same issue.

They send me another message saying maybe I installed the drivers incorrectly, so I went along with it anyway. I uninstalled the nvidia drivers, rebooted, shutdown, removed the nvidia card, installed the 280x, bootup, and now I get a black screen where I can only see my cursor. I tried my other monitor just in case. I even tried the steps twice. I'm pretty much lost.
