I have a dell m6700 precision workstation laptop that could play all the newest most high end games without any kind of lag. My computer broke, so I had to install a new version of windows (windows 7 ultimate). When it all loaded up and I got the game borderlands 2 (which before I could play on maxed out settings without any lag whatsoever) which now lags even when the settings aren't maxed out. I could also play assassins creed 4 without any problems maxed out in 1920 x 1080, only to have my framerate drop to 20 fps on normal settings. I have updated all of my drivers to their newest version, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

PC specs:

CPU: i7 3940XM 3.2GHz (10/10 on game debate)

GPU: Nvidia Quadro k5000m 4gb (9/10 on game debate)

RAM: 32 gb

SSD/HDD one terabyte HDD and one 512gb SSD (windows is installed on the SSD)

It's almost as if it isn't using all of the power of the card.

Thanks

You have to re-install the graphics driver for your model from the Dell website to get the nvidia working.

Your computer "breaking" would never require you to install a new version of windows. The laptop came with an OS you should have just reinstalled. Where exactly did you get this "new" version of windows

I screwed my computer up bad. I had to go into DISKPART and do a low level format on the drives. I bought the OS at Best buy.

I've already entered the service tag on the dell website and updated all of the drivers.

Dells video driver is most likely way outdated. Go to nvidia'a website(www.nvidia.com) and download the latest quadro performance driver. Nvidia does have drivers for mobile cards.

I did dell first, then realised they were out of date and went to the nvidia website and updated them to the correct version. All of my drivers are up to date.

Check you temperatures and clock speeds at idle and under load.
