I just installed an Antec VP450 power supply into a Gateway PC. Mobo is Nvidia 6150SE. I hooked it up exactly as the old one. However, with the mobo connection (20 pin) there is a 4 pin connector that looks like it should connect right next to the 20 pin. The old PS had a similar 4 pin connector going to to the mobo, but it was in a different area (I did connect that to the new PS). Should I also connect the other 4 pin? It branches off of the 20 pin connector and looks like it's meant to go right next to it. But would this be redundant, as I already connected the 4 pin?

Solution
If your m/b has a 24 pin connector, use the 20 plus the "branching off" 4 pin. The separate 4 pin is the EATX power that connects near the cpu. If the m/b is only a 20 pin, use just the 20 pin portion of the psu lead, let the "branch off" dangle and use the separate 4 pin for the cpu EATX connection.
