Hi guys :)
So I was thinking about doing my first pc build which will be used mostly for gaming and for work later on in college, any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. THANKS

Motherboard: Asus Z97-A

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K Quad Core

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB 1600 MHz

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SuperClocked 2GB

System Drive: Crucial M500 120GB Solid State Drive

Storage Drive: Seagate Barracuda 2TB

Optical Drive: Asus 24x DVD Burner

Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 Mid Tower

Power Supply: XFX PRO 650W Core Edition 80+ Bronze

Do I need a sound card or not and what for?

Please don't suggest an AMD CPU or a core i5.

THANKS again for any help :)

All good stuff and should work well togethr. Some fine tuning maybe -

You don't need an i7 for gaming. The i5 4690k would work really well and save you $100

You don't need 16GB ram for gaming. 8GB is more than enough. But get 1866 cl9 1.5V 2 x 4gb for around $80US

With a cheaper cpu and ram, you could jump up to an Asus gtx780 or Gigabyte r9 290

The only thing I'd suggest if you're willing to spend this much, is spending another $50 more to get a bigger SSD. Once you've run games on your SSD and seen the loading times and changes between areas in games go to basically immediate, you're going to wish you had enough space to also keep your games on the SSD.

I bought mine about 2 years ago when a 250GB was still $250, so I went with a 120GB and I fight with it pretty often because I prefer games to be loaded onto it, but it's too small to keep very many.
