Hi , A friends is giving me his old Gigabyte Mother Board GA-Z68A-D3H-B3

And I was wondering if this will be compatible with it.

The product pages make no mention of support for Ivy Bridge CPUs but the BIOS updates say you need BIOS revision F12 or newer to support it.

If the board's BIOS is older than that, you may need to borrow your friend's old CPU at least long enough to update it before you can use your new CPU.

Yea actually he might have to since its Z68 motherboard which supports 2nd gen LGA 1155 CPUs

You're correct with that sadly my friend lives 3 states over from me and can't try it out going to try and find a Sandy Bridge compatible cpu thanks for the valuable information
