Okay, so I have a fx-8320 overclocked to 4.2ghz (on an 8 hour stress test it performed fine and its temps were a steady 68 degrees Celsius) 8gb of hyper-x RAM (2x4gb) and a EVGA gtx760 overclocked edition. My system has been running perfectly fine for a while, that is until I booted up my newly steam installed version of Metro 2033. After launching the game it started in an odd resolution so I went into the settings and changed it to 1920x1080p while changing from high settings to ultra and changing from direct x 9 to direct x 11. After doing so I backed out of the settings menu, upon doing so my pc immediately crashed. It still had power (fans, lights, etc. still on) but all ports shut off (mouse, keyboard, audio, and monitor). Not knowing what had happened i was forced to turn off my pc. Upon boot my system was super unresponsive and windows explorer began crashing immediately (could not open folders, launch chrome, etc.) SO, I am sure you can understand my concern. It ran completely fine and certainly has the hardware to support good performance, but after changing those settings and crashing my system is completely unstable. I am currently typing this out in safe mode, through which my pc runs fine. Can anyone suggest any fixes ?

So I managed to solve the issue. I ran 2 registry repairs in safe mode which identified multiple errors. Upon repairing them my system is running great again. Why the issue began I have no idea, but as it stands it is fixed.

O.K, after successfully booting up I tried running metro 2033 again, this time going into the config settings and restoring all the defaults so that it would not boot into the settings I had left it in on crash. Well, when I launched the game I was met with an error, '"metro 2033 had an unexpected error", "launch anyways or launch with default settings"'. So I choose to launch with the default settings, OH MY GOD WHAT A MISTAKE. As soon as I clicked on the option my windows crashed yet again only to do the same...

Well, when I launched the game I was met with an error, '"metro 2033 had an unexpected error", "launch anyways or launch with default settings"'. So I choose to launch with the default settings, OH MY GOD WHAT A MISTAKE. As soon as I clicked on the option my windows crashed yet again only to do the same exact thing. So, this time I booted in safe mode and ran a IObit powerful uninstall on the game, repaired my registry and rebooted, and my pc is fine once again. SO, the message of my story is that Metro 2033 clearly has some sort of issues and was the cause of my instability. Thanks a lot Metro.
