I am going crazy. My DSL drops so often I had to copy past this question into a notecard as my net just will not stay connected long. My "little black box" at home is blank. Not a number, name, etc on it. I have had my service provider replace it many times to the point now they want to charge me. They say it is not their fault but the phone lines. OK so I went to the phone company who has tested the lines many times telling me the lines are fine but could be updates if I wanted to foot the bill for the whole area I live in (we are talking a bill bigger then a collage tuition). I am so fed up I could just cry. I am so tired of crashing all the time and having to do all work in notecards such as forms, etc. I don't dare play a game or go onto facebook without getting myself so pissed I want to scream. What good was buying a new computer and paying all this money for dsl (which is all I can get in the mountain like area I live in) if I can't even get on or stay on the net.? Who's fault is this? and who do I go to to get this fixed?I do not live in a small hick town here, net is not unheard of here. In fact I am only 3 hours from San Jose, ,CA, some would say the birth place. Please Help me, I am going crazy here

Do you have a DSL filter on every single phone in the house?

This may be an interesting read: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49&topicid=27834

If you're reasonably competent, you could get hold of a couple of gel cable joiners and try (temporarily) wiring your modem direct to the incoming phone line, disconnecting the rest of the house. This separates a fault in your house from a fault in your ISP/phone company's network.
