I am going on 3 hours now without any luck. I just bought this card and very excited to test it out. But I'm getting nowhere.

What it is doing.
I know that the fans are spinning. It is not being detected by mobo and so I can't see the POST.

I have a 1000 watt psu and don't have a 6+2 adapter. I am using the 2 4pin molex to 6 pin adapter and 2 6pin to 8pin adapter it came with to make it match the 6&8 pin female connections.

My old card still works in either pci e slot well as the integrated and have disabled the onboard port. I've reset the cmos and also made sure connections were good.

Once I can get the motherboard to see the card I will be good to go. Mobo is fully updated.

The card isn't detected by mobo during bios post. New drivers won't help yet. Once the mobo identifies the card then I can move onto the OS.

What power supply do you actually have? Brand and model?
For a 1000W power supply that only comes with 6 pin PCIE sounds very cheap.

It is a cool max. The reason for the 6 pins is that it is 7 years old. But I've verified that it is sending electrical current and that the fans are spinning. I had previously a radeon 5950 that had a 6 pin that does work fine. Bios is verified up to date. I've reset CMOS. Not getting any beeps from mobo and I have set the bios to take pci ex as priority. The old card still works fine and I verified that the card is compatible with mobo. Any other ideas before I waste time rma'ing it?

well even it has enough wattage, 7 years is a long time for a power supply. Best to get a new one.
My suggestion get a new power supply.

I will rma the card first as there is nothing wrong with the psu. Figured I would check for alternatives first.

Its not that there is not wrong with your power supply. Its just 7 years is a good time for a power supply to be swapped due to the components inside degrading.

Pulled the card and placed in 2nd machine to verify. It is DOA. Did not work in 2nd machine.
