When I play Battlefield 3 CPU's temp goes to 69C. Should I be concerned about this high temperature?

System stability test report: http://i.imgur.com/tYLwaCH.png

In normal case it fluctuates between 35-50C.

Config: FX-8350 (not overclocked), Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB GDDR5, one case fan at front and 1 at back. I am not using stock cooler, I'm using this http://www.flipkart.com/deepcool-iceedge-400-xt/p/itmd9hkakrxwwax9?pid=COLD9HKA76V5ZAD2 and I'm not sure whether it's good or not, can you check the product and let me know if this is a low quality? Then I will consider buying a new one.

Environment: I'm from Jaipur, Rajasthan (India) and here the temperature is around 35-42C.

What should I do? Is my cooler not good enough? Or is it due to the outside temperature? What are the things I should try so that I can confirm it's time to buy a new cooler?

Which cooler are you using?I am from Mumbai and I use corsair h80i water cooler and the temps while playing BF3 go to max 48

Just 48? That means something is wrong with my system. I am using this cooler: http://www.flipkart.com/deepcool-iceedge-400-xt/p/itmd9hkakrxwwax9?pid=COLD9HKA76V5ZAD2

Did you apply thermal paste on the CPU before fixing the cooler on it?

Yes.

Today I cleaned complete CPU and reapplied thermal paste. Still getting the same results.

The temps you will get from that cooler will be much higher than mine because its an air cooler and the temps in my area currently are 30-32 and I am using a H80i water cooling unit.Unfortunately the cooler you have although being a step above the stock AMD cooler is still about the bare minimum that is required to run a fx 8350 hence the temps you will get will acually be similar to the stock AMD cooler. You also bought the worst possible cooler at that price because the Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo was like 600 rupees more and was MILES BETTER than the one you have.If possible try to get a cooler master hyper 212 wvo.It will reduce your temps by at least 10-12 degrees

Yes. Right now here the temperature is 40C. And I don't have AC, just a symphony cooler, so that might also be the reason. Your CPU goes to 48C when you play BF3, mine goes to 69. Those extra 20C might be from the environment + just air cooling (no water based cooling like yours).

Regarding the CPU cooler, yeah this was my first build and I had no idea of coolers, I just knew that stock coolers are not good for gaming so I ordered one from Flipkart based on the reviews, I got it in 2050 INR, the one you are suggesting is 4K+. Still if I had the idea, I would not have thrown 2K to this cooler. Anyway right now I'm not in mood of buying a new one as without gaming it's not going above 50C (fluctuates between 25-45), I hope that is fine and not dangerous to my system, what do you think?

The cooler costs Rs 2450!!!
http://www.nextworld.in/product.aspx?sku=HW8413

Its out of stock on flipkart but its a Rs 2k cooler. The price on Amazon is overpriced.Dont go by those prices

On a side note,I would try and get hold of a cooler master thermal paste
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Cooler-Master-IC-Essential-E1-Thermal-Compound-Grease-Paste-RG-ICE1-TG15-R1-/310883086904?pt=IN_Computer_Components&hash=item4862137238&_uhb=1

The thermal paste you are using sounds like the culprit to me.70C is thermal shut down point for the CPU and you are dangerously close to that. But I wouldnt worry as the CPU will shut down long before it does your system any damage. Also go in the BIOS and enable AMD Cool and Quiet. Also disable AMD Turbo Core.Turbo Core overclocks your CPU voltages resulting in substantially higher temps. The above 2 points are important.Let me know if you cant find them in your BIOS!1

Oh OK. I'll get a watercooled one but not very soon.

I just applied thermal paste today, should I do it again with the one you mentioned? Will it make a difference?

I disabled AMD turbo core (it was set to automatic). Also check out other settings:

BTW I have opened my case, and since then I'm getting 62C temp instead of 69C. Maybe because the case is open.

Edit: Cool, after disabling the Turbo it has come down to 58-59C.

The Overclock mode in one of your screenies(http://i.imgur.com/ILjyb1n.jpg) is set to Auto.Set it to disabled. Its overclocking your CPU on the fly!! which your cooler cannot handle.

The thermal paste may be the reason behind the high temps but I cant guarantee it.Coolermaster thermal paste are the second best after artic silver(not available in India)

There's no disable option.

Overclock Mode: Use this to select Overclock Mode. Configuration options: [Auto] and [Manual]. The default value is [Auto]

The first option which says "OC mode" has 2 options: Manual Mode, and CPU OC Mode. The CPU OC Mode is basically a quick overclocking tool for CPU. It will overclock your CPU by a percentage, like 5%, 10% etc. Mine is set to Manual mode.

The second option which says "Overclock Mode" under "CPU configuration" has 2 modes, manual and auto, mine is set to Auto.

PS: I have ASRock 990FX Extreme4

Yea I also think it's fine. I had brought it down to 58-60 (while playing BF3 and case is open). Today morning it's 48-50C (playing BF3, case open, but ambient temp is 30C).

Don't have a basement but PC is in ground floor, which is certainly cooler than first floor.
