Hello all!
Reposting because no one was looking at the old thread I made, maybe this title will actually attract some people.
I got this card yesterday (Radeon R7 260x) and simply cannot install the driver. Whenever I do any AMD Catalyst driver compatible with this card it will get to around 70-80 percent of the way done and just crashes, making a strange noise then after about 5 seconds reboots. Depending on how much longer this goes on I may post a YouTube video and link it for you guys to see what's going on. The computer I have is an HP Envy 700-147c with an AMD A10 5700, 12 gigs ram, Corsair CX500M (I put in two days ago) and using an HP w1907 monitor. The rest of the specs can be found here: http://
Here's everything I've tried so far. Right now it is just running on Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor.
Turn on legacy support
Turn off onboard graphics
Install drivers from disc
Install drivers from website (No version I've tried works)
Remount card (Multiple times)
Remount ram
Installing the driver through Microsoft default driver install and choosing driver files located on

Couple other things I've checked
Yes, the power (6 pin) cable into the card is in
Yes, the cable is plugged into graphics card and not motherboard
I am using the VGA/DVI adaptor cable that came in the box to connect my monitor

The windows error report I get after rebooting is something about memory dump. If you'd like I can copy the file(s) on some site and provide the link, but here is the location one of the listed error... thingies(?)
C:\Windows\mnidump\071114-28080-01.dmp

Thanks a whole bunch for taking the time to read through all of this and maybe having a possible solution. If you want a YouTube video of it, tell me and I'll put one up today.

What card did you use prior to this one, sir? Does everything work with the old card?

To me, this sounds like a faulty card. The logic behind this is that when driver tries to load and initialize (which also activates all the accelerating hardware within the GPU) it fails due to hardware error. Strange noises and reboots just confirm this. The only other reason could be that you PSU is too weak or failing, but first we have to check the card.

If you can, test this card in another computer!

First of all, thank you for your response!
Prior to this card I was just using the APU graphics on my AMD A10 5700k, all worked just fine and dandy.
The soonest I can check to see if it's the card would be on Monday, (my neighbor offered to do it with his computer) and I'm thinking about just returning the card through Amazon and getting a new one, that is, if the graphics card is broken. Another option would be my neighbor also offered to trade graphics card if mine is functioning properly in his computer, my ASUS Radeon R7 260x for his ASUS Radeon HD 7770. Trading up would be the least hassle option. (again, if the card works)
Not related to the graphics card.. well sort of. What would you do in this situation? Would you happen to know how easy it is to return something through amazon?
Thank you in advance!
