So I am thinking about getting the G3258 because of it's crazy cheap price and overclocking capabilities. Before I buy it I want to know how much I can ACTUALLY get out of it.

I plan on getting the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. Would this CPU Cooler be enough to OC the G3258 to 4.7Ghz? Could I get to this and stay in the 70° range?

Also, I am new to overclocking so I would like to know if I need to get new thermal paste, case fans, etc.

EDIT: If the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is not good enough should I think about getting something like the Noctua NH-D14 for 35 bucks more or the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus for 5 bucks more. I should also mention I live near a Microcenter so I am getting the g3258 for $60. So with that in mind is it smart to be paying the same or more then the actual CPU cost on the CPU Cooler?

Bare in mind that each individual example of a given CPU will overclock differently, and create more or less heat - you might get a really good one, or a not so good one...

Maybe the thing to do would be to get your rig set up with the chip before you buy an aftermarket cooler (presuming it comes with a stock cooler)... then when you get an idea of where the temps are at stock speeds, and then under minimal OCing, make your decision about what aftermarket cooler to buy?

Yeah. So it's basically all luck then. But what is the average for this CPU? What temps should I expect with the coolers I mentioned at 4.5Ghz - 4.7Ghz

Test 4Ghz first and slowly build up from there. Reviewers got very golden samples hence the high overclocks. There is no guarantee your cpu will get there. If you ever have to increase the voltage, try to keep it under 1.4V. Under 1.3 volts is better for air coolers.
