Dual-HDMI or DVI to connect my PC to 4K TV

Hi All,

Recently I've purchased Samsung 55" HU8500 4K monitor and I am happy with it until I tried to connect my PC to my UHTV. I am trying to get 4K resolution @60Hz if possible, but I was not successful yet.

After doing some research I understand that there are simply two options, which will not work for me neither:

1- HDMI 2.0 --> The TV supports HDMI 2.0 with 4 ports; whereas, my GPU (GTX 770) does only support HDMI 1.4. So this option is off to table.

2- DisplayPort --> Even though the GPU has DP, Samsung TV does not.

Another option would be to use dual-HDMI to connect PC to TV, however, I am not sure whether it will work or not. Should I just connect two-HDMI 1.4 cables to the TV? Is there anyone out there who experience this?

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

If you use dual HDMI and it has Multi-Stream Transport support, it technically splits your 4k screen in half, sending one half on one cable. This should allow you to get 60HZ but it is not a true 4k resolution.
For your tv i cannot find any info if it has Multi-Stream Transport support.

OK my question is then:

How can I do it via two HDMI 1.4 cables? Is it straightforward connection between PC and TV or what? Do I need an adapter?

Sorry, I am kind of confused here.

What is the advantage of using two HDMI cables if I still get 30Hz?

If I use both HDMI and displayport (via adapter), will I get 4K @60 Hz?

Thanks in advance.

As far as I understand, If my TV supports MST, then I can use dual HDMI to get 4K @60 Hz, however it will not be true 4K resolution.

If my TV does not support MST, then I am stuck to 30Hz..

Thanks Suztera. It was very helpful.

Just coming out of my mind:

What if I receive data using DP from my PC, then use an adaptor to convert HDMI, and then connect it to my TV's HDMI 2.0 input? Would it work?

As far as I know, HDMI 2.0 capability is all about hardware related, meaning that using old HDMI 1.4 cable can carry up to 18Gbps if there is HDMI 2.0 input on TV available.

If data is carried via DP and converted to HDMI just before connecting it to TV, might work since the TV has HDMI 2.0 capability. I am not 100 percent sure, though.
