I had the Gt 640 on my old build, worked really well, especially after i overclocked it! I would definitely go for the 640

R7 250 is slightly better.

The r7 250 is the faster card. You don't necessarily need 2GB in a card for that price, just make sure it's ddr5.

I would go for the gtx 640 because even tho the r7 is slightly faster, amd cards are known to have artifact issues. You probably wont notice the speed difference anyway.
