I'd get the Gigabyte card since it has a better cooler.

I have a XFX HD7870 that has been a real sweet-spot card for the over a year I've had it. It is fairly quiet, and runs coolly even if overclocked (up to about 1100-1130Hz iirc; I wasn't pushing it).
OTOH, a XFX HD7970 was an incredible disappointment; hot and loud even underclocked. I replaced it with a Gigabyte WF3 model, and that one is great. It stays cool and runs quietly, even with a similar OC.

The warranty (lifetime X2 vs 3 yr.) with the XFX is far superior, but Eduello is right about the cooling.

I like the GIGABYTE BETTER , don't care for Sapphire cards.

Only the HD7970 gave me trouble; I also had a XFX HD7750 and a HD7770 that were good cards too. I almost regret selling the the HD7770, and I put the HD7750 in my father's PC so I could play some games on it when I visit them. The aluminum shrouds on all of them are a lot more robust than the chintzy plastic some companies use.
