Im building a budget pc and im not sure whether I should go for the AMD Athlon x4 760k or the new Intel Pentium g3258 anniversary edition. The most demanding games I will be playing will be Battlefield 4 and the upcoming Battlefield Hardline, I would be overclocking the Pentium however I don't know whether 2 cores would be enough?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Solution
Get the g3258, the motherboard for the Pentium G3258s are a lot more advanced. Plus you can upgrade to a intel core i5 or i7 down the road.

The Athlon x4 760K is actually both a dual core (in it's floating point power) and a quad core (in it's integer power). You can look it up in wiki.

For now a r9 270 and a fx6300 will sufice for 2-3 years
Also note that am3+ platform has a unclear future. Amd rumors go from closing the entire fx and x86 sector while others are feeding the new "miracolous" am4 socket with excavator.

However if you plan to go the upgrade way with intel then youll be good considering that beteewn 2700k 3770k and 4770k there isnt much to diference.
As for the x4 760k well there is o point of going more than r7 260x really since it wont performance wont raise anymore no matter what you feed it. Same would go for the g3228 but on that one you have the upgrade posibility. Also x4 760k might not have a upgrade at all because they will most probably change the platform.
Why im a troll and shake all AMD dreams. Because amd wont launch anyting till 2015 and more leaks confirm the DDR4 implementation which will make them change platforms.
Sicerelly id go for a simple and plain config with a fx6300 and a r9 270 and screw anithing else.
If youd gave me a budget it would be easier. Why and please let me follow the logic( or lack of it) you ask for a PC build without saying how much you can afford.
