Hello there!

As the title might suggest, I just want to know which is the best card. That simple.

I'm planning in buying a new PC for like 1 month and I'm just about to do it. I was for sure that I was going to buy the GTX 770, because the R9 280X price was..... a little bit over what it should be.... Today I went to Tom's Hardware main page and saw an article called «The best Graphics card of July» or something like that. For my surprise I see that the R9 280 beats the GTX 770 thanks to the price drop. Now I have a bit of a dilema: I think the GTX 770 is slightly better, but the R9 is a tad bit cheaper and it's also very good.

What would you advise me to buy considering all the factors, including price, performance, GDDR5 memory, clock speeds. The most important is performance.

Thanks a lot for the attention!

eh 280x is the same as a 770 except its got 3 gigs of videomemory and games are already utilising more than 2gigs at times. so that extra 1gig of videoram will come in handy with future games.

But what about the clock speeds? I think the R9 is around 850 Mhz while the GTX 770 is around 1cGhz. Will that affect anything?

Do a forum search and some reading this question has been asked alot. It's almost as popular as the question "will my pci-e 3.0 card work in a 2.0 slot".

What actually matters is that both of the cards have a 23€ difference.

You can't really compare clock speeds on gpu's(cpus also) that use different architectures. As for which one to get. Get the cheaper of the 2.

Oh I didn't know that. We learn something new everyday :) . So they'll perform roughly the same? Even if they don't, I don't think 4 fps is worth plus 23€ (like 35$). Thanks for the help.
