Hey all.

So I'm trying to set up a second monitor but the problem is that the VGA port from the motherboard has no signal when I plug it in, I'm currently using DVI-I for my primary monitor. I know a separately installed graphics card will turn off motherboard's integrated graphics but I used to be able to run it with no problems, before I moved overseas. (Also tried using an adapter for VGA to HDMI, switching cords between 2 monitors, going into BIOS to enable VGA monitor)

I7-3770 3.40GHz
8G RAM 64bit
GTX 660
Primary Monitor- ASUS VH222 Second - BENQ g2000wa
BIOS ver.0906

I need more solutions before going to the conclusion of switching a new motherboard or another graphics card.

Thank you.

could you not just plug both into the GPU?

GTX660 can run multiple screens, as the Benq only has a VGA input, use the DVI converter dongle taht you should have got in the GTX660 box If you have lost it, a couple of pounds/dollars/sheckles on ebay.

I have DVI-I and DVI-D port for GTX-660, I'm using a VGA to DVI-I converter for my primary monitor. VGA has no signal.

again, try both in GPU if you haven't. If you have, VGA wire or adapter could have went bad. Have you set up windows for dual screen?

Sorry, what do you mean by both in GPU? I don't see any other slots/ports I can plug my cords into.

What brand GTX 660 is it? Most have 2 DVI ports, a Display port and HDMI port

Dont plug the VGA into the motherboard I mean. Using your adapter, plug it into the Second DVI port. So Both DVI ports are filled (both being on the GPU)

Ah, but the second DVI port is DVI-D, VGA to DVI-D don't work as one is analog and one is digital.

Have you tried? They do work. DVID has analog inputs, it just has more than DVI-A. DVID and VGA-to-dvi are compatible

Yes the Male-DVI-D female via adapter. That will work. That part is made specifically for what you want to do with it. Why else would that part be made? The people telling you otherwise are wrong. Graphic cards sometimes ship with these adapters, for people who have VGA only monitors.

Does Your BenQ not have a DVI input?
