help possible hardware failure

just recently while playing a game my pc shut down, as in one moment playing the game the next staring at a black screen, It has does this 3-4 times now. My question is it due to my psu dying (like I suspect) or another possible cause?

Are you over clocked? What is you pc hardware specs

Might be PSU. Might be heat causing the CPU to tell the PSU to power down. Check your actual temperatures and then look up the temperature limits on the CPU. If it's not temperatures, it's probably the PSU.

gpu: ASUS 7790 1gb
mobo: MSI A55M-P33
psu: Solid Gear 550w
HeatSink: Xigmatek Gaia 120m

thx1138v2 I don't believe it to be due to over heating, temperatures are under the cpu threshold and are about the same they always are

my gpu is the only thing overlocked, currently at 1145mhz

Solid Gear 550w < Very very poor power supply , change it.

Try running stock GPU. Could be PSU like others say.
