Hi guys, I have a i3 530 cpu and was wondering if it would bottleneck my new gpu (xfx radeon 6850).

If so, would it bottleneck the gpu by much or just a little bit.

Thanks!

It would be a hefty downgrade from a 6850.

Don't get me wrong, in GPU intensive games the 6850 will be fine with your CPU. It performs similarly to an AMD 7770, another option.

Edit: R7 260X/GTX 750 would be the highest i'd go in new tech.

I shouldn't imagine much of a bottleneck there, as least none in GPU intensive games. . Obviously your dual core will still hold you back in those CPU intensive games that can utilize more than 2 cores.

If i recall correctly the 6850 was in fact not as fast as the previous generations 5850, so it wasn't a huge leap. So take that to mind when reading this i3-530 + ATI 5850 review:

Alright thanks.

How about a Sapphire hd 7750 1GB? Would that card be better for the cpu?
