Hello, i have used a Toshiba Satellite L50 - A - 111(mid/high end laptop - multimedia) for 4 months until i stumbled on this problem.

I was coincidentally(or not), installing a game when the monitor brightness and vibrancy suddently was lost, and never again came back, now this was 7 months ago.

The equipment was delivered to toshiba support a couple of days ago under warranty.

Also the monitor dimmed gradually as i used it, especially after browsing the internet, the monitor would dim even more after a couple of minutes. Also important to state that on first boot the monitor is very dim, i have to reboot everytime in order to obtain and acceptable brightness or shut and turn on the display.

Now, could this be some monitor failure, or even graphical? Its a TFT HD Truebright, high gloss/bright LCD monitor with LED backup.

This happened a couple of days after updating to windows 8.1. I have updated all drivers, even have reinstalled the full system.

I guess i will never buy another Toshiba product again. Kind of obvious, since there better brands/products on the market that are actually cheaper in cost.

My best regards,

There are a few places that you can/should look.
Inside Windows, go into Control Panel and then Power Options.
On the one that is selected, go into "Change plan settings" which is displayed in blue lettering.
Then click on "Change advanced power settings"
Then scroll down to "Display" section and expand it.
Look in the "Enable Adaptive brightness" section and disable it to see if that helps with the screen brightness. Save any changes for them to take effect.

Check to see if Toshiba also has any software installed that it uses for power management in Control Panel or an application.

Also, if none of those things work, go into your uefi bios and check for power options listed in there, especially related to screen dimming.
