oh wait well maybe I shoul;d add that it is a radeon 280x it is very new about 3months new. what do you thinkis wrong with it? it is a factory overclocked gigabyte windforce 280x it shouldn't have artifacts on the lowest setting catalyst software will use for it wich is a 1100mhz core cause its factory overclocked. it should be fine at stock so am wondering is it the graphics card causing the artifacts? or could it have anythi9ng to do with my first generation IPS monitor having a 12ms delay?

id like to overclock it further just inside amd catalyst software but forget it since I sometimes get artifacts at stock. also the heat appears fine. max 68degrees celcius max.

Any card will get that artifacting issue if they run at an unstable speed. Graphics card manufacturers like to make their cards run faster than the reference (AMD set) speed so that the product looks superior. And while it is their responsibility to ensure the cards can run stable at their set speed, it seems certain manufacturers of late have been shoddy in the QC process.

And it seems the R9 280X has the highest failure rate because the R9 280X GPU is actually the same as the older HD 7970. Except that now the chips at 'reference' are essentially overclocked 7970s, so when manufacturers overclock beyond reference they are pushed to extremes and easily become unstable which is what you are seeing now.

Nonetheless the R9 280X is still a good card and it is up to luck if you receive an unstable one. No matter what card you buy be it from AMD or Nvidia you will stand a chance to draw the short stick.

And usually Nvidia cards are priced higher than the equivalent AMD because of the brand image. Most people that are not the least bit tech savvy tend to get the notion that Nvidia is better than AMD so retailers take advantage of it to raise prices of more popular products. ok thanks, I am wondering if I rma the card if maybe they can fix it or something because sometimes it makes little cube like artifacts ad takes up a decent size of the corner and sometimes u cant get rid of it. I have even seen artifacts when not playing games. on a few occasions artifacts appeared when I was on the desktop

Every gpu runs at its low speed on desktop. When you launch the game it pushes up.And i think you need to replace the gpu or contact your seller to resolve your problem.I think that the gpu is a damaged one

That couldn't be a PSU fault.if the psu fails, your pc wont even power up.You just need to ensure your gpu as this proves that your gpu is a faulty one
